Cities are a technology. They have been with us as long as civilization and their genesis marks a turning point in the capability of humans to organize and create coherent systems. The resulting systems are a boon to the propagation and expansion of a national and civilizational story. Because of this, humanity cannot abandon its cities and remain solvent.
