The Enlightenment and its legacy, like an all-consuming fire which cannot bear to see the existence of a single shadow, must burn ever brighter to continue the great conflagration: the rationalist devouring of tradition and relations. If there is to be a New Man, there must be a New City, but both are destined to fail. Man was not made to be alone, and the liberal atomization of man and the city will lead to the collapse of both if not corrected.
