Accompanying the transformation of the existing city, there is a new mirror of the ancient city-states forming in and around the contemporary metropolis. The cyclic travel concentrated to the city is often from or back towards a Node: an isolated community, sleeping quarter, or gathering place. The modern life is lived, more and more, between disparate Nodes held together by a thread of our attention and time, breaking the thick chains of relation found in the traditional city.
